Dry Fruit Powder   is combination of different nuts formed in to powder. This mix is used to make special milk based drink Turri and also for flavoring the lassi .

Insha Allah next month we will have Ramadan. My preparation for this month long celebration starts after fifteen of Shabaan. To make things easier during Ramadan I prep up with  Ramadan packets , gifts, grocery list, menu planning, frozen food, Chutneys, masala mixes and paste.

Today  I am sharing with you a  dry fruit mix/ Turri mix. This mix is very easy to make and can be stocked up in advance. There are many variations for this recipe depending on the region and sometimes season. In some recipes makhana (fox nut), chirongi ( Buchanania) or edible gum  is used. 

Dry Fruit Powder /Turri mix

The Dry Fruit Powder mix is made with nuts like almond, pistachio, cashew, coconut. Spices like cardamom , saffron & rose are used to give more flavor. This mix is full of pleasant aromas and flavor. I have used a secret ingredient silver leaf for this recipe. Silver leaf gives a little glitter and grandeur to our mix.

The uses of this delicious mix are innumerable. Mix it  with milk and boil. Cool & serve chilled, this becomes a nutritious drink to break the fast. To add more variation, add a scoop of icecream and you have a delicious milkshake. Add it to yogurt with little honey and you have delicious lassi. Add it to your icecream mix and eat a yummy dry fruit ice cream.Dry Fruit Powder /Turri mix

Ingredients

  • 50 gm almond
  • 50 gm pistachio
  • 25 gm cashew
  • 10 gm Coconut powder
  • 5 gm green cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp saffron
  • 3 dry rose petals
  • 1 edible silver leaf (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a grinder jar, put all the ingredients.
  2. Pulse to a coarse powder.
  3. Remove and store in an airtight glass jar
  4. Store in fridge
  5. Use as required

Notes

1 tbsp dry fruit powder is required for one glass of turri/milkshake

Lately my life has been full of ups and downs. I know this is how life is. Usually ,  I am a very calm person ,courageous & positive in each situation. But this time, I suffered lots of anxiety. It is said your body signals you in different ways that something is wrong. I don;t know what to call this type of situation. False notion, hallucination. You get up during nights with no idea. And suddenly every thing stops with a news and you go back to your normal being. I have ignored this in the past but lately my mind tells me not to ignore it. But what can a person do. Whatever happen is in Almighty’s hand and we are just puppets. We can try to come out of the situation. But he is the decision maker. Today my heart was filled with so much agony that I had to let it out. It’s difficult. Too difficult. But I know this too shall pass. My sister’s cancer has recurred again. We thought she has survived. But it has returned. This is an emotional journey for all of us. But I know, this too shall pass. Insha allah.
