I prepare a huge stock of Apple halwa when apples are in season. It is so simple to prepare and does not need any special ingredients. As you all know, I like to keep my dishes simple, easy and less time consuming. Well , when one is working, you need to be that.
So the main ingredients apples. Now what kind of apple works for this recipe? Any kind. But I prefer using Irani Apples. They are bit on sweet side. And it also reminds me of Kashmiri apples back home. So I think Irani apples are best substitute for Kashmir ones

Ingredients
- 12-15 Apples (peeled & grated)
- 1/3 cup jaggery/sugar
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1/4 cup roasted milk powder
- 1/2 tsp cardamom crushed
- 1/4 tsp strands of saffron
Instructions
- Add a tbsp ghee to the pan.
- Add peeled & grated apples.
- Once the apples get mushy, add in the sugar, roasted milk powder, cardamom & saffron.
- Cook till the halwa leaves the sides of pan.
- Serve warm.
