Garam masala is a mix of different whole spices.
Garam masala is the concoction of different whole spices depending on the region. And the recipe for it varies from house to house. A must have in indian cooking it is sometimes roasted then made into powder depending on the requirement of the dish.
In maharashtra cooking , there is a lot of use of different kind of masala like tala hua masala, thanda masala, korme ka masala and not the least garam masala. Today the recipe shared is of garam masala. Spices used are clove, black cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, black cumin and green cardamom. The quantity of black pepper used is comparatively more that other spices. The reason for being called garam (meaning hot) masala is the spices used have hot effect (in urdu we call garam taseer wale masale)

Ingredients
- 25 gm Black Pepper (Kali Mirch)
- 5 gm Black cumin (Shah Zeera)
- 10 gm Clove (Laung)
- 10 gm Cinnamon (Dal Chini)
- 10 gm Black Cardamom ( Badi Elaichi)
- 5 nos Green Cardamom (Choti Elaichi)
Instructions
- In a mixture ground to powder all the masalas.
- Store in an airtight container.
- Use as required.
